I can't quite recall when I started taking Vyvanse but I do know that the last time I ever took it was the day before my birthday on 8/18/22; I was trying to reinstall my Beat Saber mods, something that used to be a pain in the ass for me, and sensing that my patience and attention span were wearing thin, I overmedicated and took one extra to give me the dopamine and stimulation I needed to finish the job. So I'm writing this near the two-year anniversary of me being Vyvanse free!
I do remember that when I first started on it, my brain was far too stunted to have the sense to use it right, the attention span to look up what happens when you use it wrong, or the life experience to realize that the medical nightmares I see online and on TV can happen to me too. Thankfully it never got to that point, but if it weren't for one fateful night it very well might have...
I first got back on an ADHD medication around the time I started doing online school(which I could write a whole other log about honestly)in sophmore year, and back then I couldn't be bothered to consider things like side effects. I remember no one sitting me down to warn me about how dangerous it could be, but it's certainly possible that someone DID and I didn't pay it any mind and promptly forgot. My mom told me straight to my face not to take my first Vyvanse until next morning, but I
1. Assumed she didn't want me taking it yet because it wouldn't work in the afternoon and because I lacked the mental and social capacity to just ASK her, I
2. Took one anyway just to see if it would work.
Well it fucking did, I got ten lessons done that day. I remember beaming with pride, telling her that Vyvanse did actually work in the afternoon! That's when I was informed about Vyvanses first super cool and epic side effect: Insomnia!
